Kim is Fellow of the School of Law at the University of Birmingham. Kim has previously been a tutor and researcher in the Department of Law & Criminology at Aberystwyth University.

Kim completed her undergraduate degree in Law in 2008, graduating from Aberystwyth University with a 2:1 in Law. Her dissertation was entitled: Intellectual Property and Online Gaming.

She then went on to complete the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School in 2009, graduating with a Commendation.

Kim has recently completed her LLM, graduating with a Commendation and can now focus her attention completely on pursuing her PhD, returning to her original legal fascination; intellectual property and cyberspace governance.

Her LLM Dissertation examined the new Supreme Court, focussing on the changes made to the apex of the legal system by abolishing the Judicial Committee of the House of Lords: The UK Supreme Court; Facade or Reincarnation?

Kim's research is concerned with copyright and online games, examining the legal regimes applied to massively multiplayer online role playing games (MMORPGs) and the complex legal issues that relate to property rights, infringement and governance of these online spaces. This research includes scrutiny of the contractual licensing agreements governing online games and virtual worlds, including but not limited to World of Warcraft and Second Life.
